Future Plans:
My fiance, Katie Gee, and I get married on April 19, 2008. Starting in June 2008, I will take part in a pilot run of Via Christi’s International Family Medcine Fellowship (IFMF) which will begin with a tropical medicine course in West Virginia. A month or so after that, I will be heading to Africa to work at a hospital for about three months as part of the IFMF. We are hoping and praying that Katie will get to come to Africa for one month while I am there. After returning home from Africa, things seem to calm down a bit. I will then finish the at home portion of the IFMF by rotating through a five month curriculm in Wichita that emphasizes trauma, sonography, burn care, dental extractions, basic spinal anesthesia, and several other areas of study. Now, after that Katie will have two more years of surgical residency to complete, and I will find work until she is finished. This is where it gets complicated. I owe Kansas four years in an underserved area and Katie owes Arizona four years in an underserved area. I will likely work a couple of those years off while Katie is in residency, and then we will likely head to Arizona to fulfill Katie’s committment. Since I will not be able to fulfill my full four years, we will have to pay a steep penalty fee for breaching my contract. With both of us working we’re hoping we can pay this off rather quickly. After both of our committments and loans are taken care of, we are plann to go abroad as soon as possible to serve as full-time missionaries. To where? Only God knows at this point. As you can imagine, this will all take an incredible amount of prayer and we ask that you join us in asking for God’s will to be worked in our lives. Thank you in advance for your contribution in prayer.
