Diversions

Today was a day for adventure. We spent only a half day at the hospital, and since Dr. Saleh offered to do the few cases on the list, we spent our time in rounds. Afterwards, we drove into town to get some picnic lunch items from Spar, then dove out to the Choma Dam through some beautiful maize farms. The sun was so hot, but we had an enjoyable picnic and then headed to the sports club to play tennis. Well, maybe the midday heat wasn’t the best time to play, but we persisted for two hours before finding our way to another nearby lodge that had a swimming pool. As we left, I admired the image of the setting sun shining its golden orange light on thousands of pink- and white-topped tall grasses waving lazily in the gentle breeze.
